Oro Valley Marketplace

Moonflower

Art

Public

Public Art commissioned by Tucson Pima Arts Council for Vestar Development, Oro Valley Marketplace.

”Stunning!”

Mayor of the Town of Oro Valley.

The site for ‘Moonflowers’ was originally a cattle ranch. The
metal leaves, stems and flowers are designed in a ‘tooled’
leather fashion harkening back to the ranching days. Each of
the five sculptures depicts various growth stages of the datura
plant (Datura metaloides) from early flower buds to fruiting
structures. Fabricated from mild carbon steel and hand-forged
stainless steel, each sculpture is 23 feet long x 4 feet tall and
solar powered LED’s back-light each sculpture providing a
night presence.
